Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

GST was introduced to replace a complex web of multiple indirect taxes with a single, unified tax. Its main purposes are: to eliminate the cascading effect of taxes (tax on tax), create a common national market, simplify the tax structure, and increase compliance while reducing tax evasion.

CGST (Central GST): Tax collected by the Central Government on intra-state transactions.
SGST (State GST): Tax collected by the State Government on intra-state transactions.
IGST (Integrated GST): Tax collected by the Central Government on inter-state (between two states) transactions. For example, if a product with 18% GST is sold within a state, the tax will be 9% CGST + 9% SGST. If sold to another state, it will be 18% IGST.

Our calculator uses standard formulas for GST calculation.
For 'Add GST': GST Amount = Base Amount × (GST Rate / 100). Gross Amount = Base Amount + GST Amount.
For 'Remove GST' (Reverse Calculation): Base Amount = Gross Amount / (1 + (GST Rate / 100)). GST Amount = Gross Amount - Base Amount. It's a simple yet powerful tool for quick and accurate calculations.
